"When I was a star"

I realized that I never posted about Miss G's tv debut. She ended up being featured in Pat Roberts' healthcare ad, which she greatly enjoyed, and still asks when she can "be a star again"! I don't know how to embed video into the blog, but I found the ad on youtube at the following link, should you like to see it! Big Guy is in it, too, sitting next to little miss in the final scene. Enjoy!

My Maine-iacs

Here's our rental house, "Yorkshire House", about a ten minute walk down to Short Sands beach. It was a fun place... we didn't take enough advantage of the roof deck, though, because of Little Guy. The weather was glorious all week, and we got to have a second spring, since it's further north than Kansas. The lilacs were all in amazing bloom, and there was a fabulous apple tree next to the house:

Little Mister just wasn't interested in standing still for a photo:
One day we went to Cape Elizabeth to Fort Williams. When I was nine, my Dad lived just down the road (and I lived there with him for a few months). I used to climb the rocks from the beach near his house around to the Fort and lighthouse, and I haven't been there since I was nine or ten, so it was pretty neat to return:

We also made it to LL Bean in Freeport, where this neat little aquarium was the only thing that kept Big Guy from absolutely making everyone's lives miserable because the rock-climbing wall that was there five years ago (and was the promised fun activity for the day) had been removed.

Fun to be there, sad to leave, glad to be home!

Driving (and driving, and driving) to Maine

Happy to be out of the car for a while! (Somewhere in Indiana, I think?)

This is how Daddy spent most of the drive to Maine... actually, most of the time he had both phones going at once... while driving! (The perils of going on vacation while running a Senate campaign!)
That is, unless Little Mister was borrowing one of his phones.

On day two, we made it to Niagara Falls:

On day three, we stopped by Williamstown and showed the kids the spot where we met:
We finally made it to Maine (we've never been so glad to get out of the car in our lives) and the the Short Sands beach was a big hit. It was unseasonably warm all week, so that first day, when I just expected to go down and dig in the sand for a bit, the kids all went into the water in their clothes, since I hadn't put suits on them!

Don't let this picture fool you. Miss G wasn't at ALL interested in sampling the lobster. Nor was Big Guy, though Little Mister proved himself to be a good downeast boy by eating lobster meat faster than I could get it out of the shell!
And after dinner, he helped with the dishes:
Okay, I'm out of time on borrowed bandwidth (our so-called high speed internet takes WAY too long to download things) so I'm out for now! More thrilling and exciting adventures in Maine to come!
